The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex

Rating: 5 stars (Totally Awesome and Amazing)

“This book, which inspired the recent movie Home, is a somehow both hilarious and sincere story that centers around a young girl in the midst of an unconventional alien invasion. After she manages to form a friendship with a renegade alien, named, of all things, J. Lo, the two of them travel a meandering journey around the country in an attempt to save themselves, and, in turn, the world. I loved this book, and would recommend it to any fan of comedy and science fiction.”

-Sophia, Grade 9

The Kill Order by James Dashner

Rating: 3 stars (Okay)

“The book itself was rather slow compared to the other books in The Maze Runner series. It could be confusing at times because the author wouldn’t differentiate when the main character was in real life or when he was having a flashback, which made the book a little difficult to understand. But overall it was written well and had interesting, although foreseeable, plot twists.”
